About Me
- Which area of practice are you most passionate about and why?
More than any particular practice area, I'm passionate about the intellectual challenge that legal work requires. If it paid better, I'd be a perpetual student collecting degrees indefinitely and never leaving campus. Since that's not realistic, the practice of law turned out to be pretty close. Every matter requires you to learn something new, whether it's a new statutory framework or an area of law you've never touched before. Then I get to figure out how to apply it in a real-world context. That process - learning something and then actually using it - is what keeps me genuinely engaged, no matter what kind of case is in front of me.
- What do you consider to be your greatest strength as a lawyer?
Research and writing. In litigation, so much eventually comes down to the brief and I take that seriously. I write precisely, I write persuasively, and I can do it accurately across a wide range of subject matter under real deadline pressure.
- What sets you apart from other lawyers?
Genuine breadth. Most litigators specialize early and stay there. I've spent my career doing the opposite: handling tort, employment, Section 1983, Title IX, municipal law, construction and competitive bidding disputes, appellate work, and trial preparation, often simultaneously. That means I can step into almost any civil litigation matter and contribute meaningfully from day one, not just learn on the client's time. Combined with a research and writing practice I've been refining for years, I think it's a combination that's genuinely hard to find in one place.
- What do you do for fun?
I love live music, anywhere from a packed international arena to a local coffee shop; a good book and a monthly book club that keeps me honest about actually finishing one; and travel whenever life allows, which is never quite as often as I'd like.
